The Greater Louisville Automotive Dealers Association (GLADA) donated $10,150 to the Jefferson Community Technical College (JCTC) Automotive Scholarship Fund during the associations Annual Meeting held at the University of Louisville’s Alumni Club. Including the previous years donation, a total of over $24,000 has been raised through GLADA’s unique, night glow-ball golf event held in September with over 70 participants.

Three years ago, GLADA and JCTC formed a partnership to provide a solution to the shortage of auto techs in the community.

The partnership is based on a co-op model from Toyota’s “t-ten” technician training program. Student’s apply to JCTC’s Automotive Technician program and dealers provide “on-the-job training” for students to supplement their course work.

Students attend classes for eight weeks and then work at a dealership for eight weeks to hone the skills taught in class. This process continues for two years while the student attains an Associate’s degree from JCTC.
